The Fez City Sports Complex, or Complexe Sportif de Fès, is a multi-purpose stadium. Construction of the complex began in early 1992, and it was expected to be completed by February 1997. It was planned to host the Africa Youth Football Championship alongside the Honor Stadium of Meknes. However, the failure to complete construction prevented this, as the project experienced several interruptions and delays due to technical issues, which came on top of the original financial budget allocated to the project.
This led the competent ministry and the Urban Municipality of Fez in 1999 to seek additional funding to complete the project. The municipality contributed 3 billion centimes through a loan from the Municipal Equipment Fund, and the ministry contributed 8 billion centimes. The total amount allocated for the construction of this sports facility, which has a seating capacity of 45,000 spectators, was estimated at around 350 million dirhams.
